Why you’re going to love living in Shrewsbury

Here at SY Homes, we believe Shrewsbury is a fabulous place to live, and it turns out we’re not the only ones. This historic town has been voted among one of the best places to live in the UK by the Sunday Times for several years in a row, and was also featured in Rightmove’s 2020 Happy at Home Index.

But what makes it so wonderful? Here’s a little insight into why Shrewsbury could be just the move you’re looking for.

1. Local amenities & entertainment

From bars and theatre productions over in the west, to more than 200 independent stores and restaurants, Shrewsbury has everything you need to stay entertained. There’s also plenty of green space with the 29-acre Quarry Park, which offers beautiful riverside walks, relaxing boat rides and stunning gardens in the Dingle.

Together with retail facilities, museums, outstanding schools and excellent public transport links, Shrewsbury provides everything you need on your doorstep.

2. Fun-filled events for all

With a whole host of events taking place throughout the year, Shrewsbury offers plenty of fun for all the family. From food festivals to folk festivals and the world’s oldest flower show, the town attracts visitors from all over the UK to celebrate food, music and nature.

For our younger residents, there’s also the Children’s Bookfest and Shropshire Kids’ Festival, while the Darwin Festival celebrates Shrewsbury’s heritage as home to Charles Darwin and the Origin of Independent Thinking. The town has all sorts of stimulating events throughout the year to inspire learners of any age.

3. A picturesque historic town

Shrewsbury is also a delight to walk around, filled with flower displays and a whole range of period properties that are a real feast for the eyes. From black and white timber-framed buildings, to historic churches and a red sandstone castle, it’s always worth looking up while strolling around the town centre’s cobbled streets.

Head a little further out of town to National Trust’s Attingham Park, a late-Georgian mansion featuring deer-filled fields and stunning woodland walks.

Explore Shrewsbury and come visit Albury Place

With all the shops and restaurants back open, now is the perfect time to visit Shrewsbury. Our show homes at Albury Place make the perfect starting point, just a short stroll from the town centre and train station.

Open for drop-in viewings every Saturday and Sunday 12-3pm, come take a tour of the luxury homes and apartments we have available. Then head into town for some lunch or a coffee, and get a real feel for why Shrewsbury is one of the best places to live. If you would prefer an evening viewing, contact Sharon to book an appointment.
