SY Homes supporting an incredible lady

SY Homes are in awe of the ‘extraordinary’ challenge that Sheree McCormick has set herself, and encourage everyone to join us in supporting this courageous woman and her fundraising goals.

On Thursday 1st Sept, Sheree will take on the Three Nations, Three Peaks challenge:  completing the equivalent of 19 marathons in 19 days, including climbing Scotland, England and Wales’ tallest peaks.  Sheree is undertaking this epic challenge in memory of her late husband Pete McCormick, who died in 2021 from a Grade 4 Brain Tumour.

SY Homes was made aware of Sheree’s challenge through her brothers Spook and Billy Banfield who are our decorating contractors .  This well-respected and close family are based in Newtown, where several SY Homes staff live and where SY Homes have recently built new homes.

Sheree is raising funds for The Brain Tumour Charity and also Homes for Veterans.  Pete was a husband, father and Army Veteran, serving in Northern Ireland and with the Australian Army.  Her target is £2500 for each charity.

Do not underestimate the challenge ahead of Sheree who is hoping to become “THE SECOND WOMAN IN HISTORY TO COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE” which will take her from Ben Nevis to Glasgow, then to the Lake District and Scafell Pike, before heading to Liverpool and Birkenhead, finally following the Wales Coast Path to Llandudno, Bangor and the peak of Snowdon.

A sports psychologist, Sheree has said of the challenge:  “I want it to take me to places where it will change me.  I want the challenge to allow me the thinking time and to have nothing around me apart from thinking about Pete and thinking about how amazing life is.”

SY Homes wish Sheree the best of luck in achieving her goal, and we will be following her progress through September.
