Helping local charity, The Ark

This month we are giving back to the community and volunteering our time and expertise to local charity, The Shrewsbury Ark, who provide services and facilities for the homeless and vulnerable. 

The Shrewsbury Ark are relocating to a new Day Centre, previously a tired old pub. The SY Homes team will refurbish the exterior, creating a warm welcome to agencies and visitors using the new space, and improving the aesthetics of the street scene along Castle Foregate.

Team members Tom and Lara bravely climbed the scaffold on Friday to roll out a welcoming banner.

Using a generous donation from Monks Properties, support from local scaffolders Pole Position and new signage donated by Sign and Poster, the SY Homes volunteers will focus on cleaning, repainting and lighting the front exterior.  Giving a smart new look to the building will create a positive connection with local residents and businesses.

“Improvements to the exterior of the building were outside of our budget, so it is fantastic to get such generous support from SY Homes and their team.  We really feel welcomed into the local community”, said Emily Bell, Chair of The Shrewsbury Ark.

The Ark’s smart new premises is a short walk from SY Homes recently development of penthouses, townhouses and apartments at Albury Place. 

“At SY Homes we feel closely connected to Shrewsbury’s established neighbourhoods where we focus our developments.  Home owners look for a sense of community when buying a home, especially a new build.  We know the area around Albury Place is vibrant and rich in local history, and we were happy to support this local project” said Tom Savage, Site Manager and Director at SY Homes.
